New to Oakridge Park? Finding a Dentist You'll Love — dental care article by Oakridge Park Dental Vancouver BC

If you have recently moved to the Oakridge area of Vancouver, or you are considering making it your new home, welcome. Oakridge is one of Vancouver's most exciting neighbourhoods right now, and for good reason. With the opening of the Oakridge Park development in 2026, the area is undergoing a transformation that is bringing new homes, green spaces, transit connections, and community amenities to a neighbourhood that has been a quiet residential favourite for decades.

At Oakridge Park Dental, we have been part of this community since 1985. We have watched the neighbourhood grow and change, and we are proud to be here as it enters its next chapter. Whether you are moving into one of the new residences at Oakridge Park, settling into a home in nearby Cambie, Marpole, or Kerrisdale, or simply looking for a new dentist in the area, this guide is for you.

What Is Oakridge Park?

Oakridge Park is a 28-acre mixed-use development located at 41st Avenue and Cambie Street, built on the site of the former Oakridge Centre mall. After nearly seven years of construction and a $6 billion investment, the development is opening in phases throughout 2026. It is one of the largest urban redevelopment projects in Canadian history, and it is reshaping what this corner of Vancouver looks and feels like.

The development includes over 3,300 new homes ranging from market condominiums in towers up to 44 storeys to townhomes, rental apartments, and a 22-storey affordable housing tower built in partnership with the City of Vancouver. For families, couples, and individuals at every stage of life, Oakridge Park is creating housing options that did not previously exist in this part of the city.

A Nine-Acre Rooftop Park

One of the most anticipated features of Oakridge Park is its nine-acre rooftop public park, which is larger than two football fields. The park will include playgrounds, open fields, a woodland area, walking trails, performance stages, yoga and fitness areas, a running loop, and mountain-view lookouts. For residents and neighbours alike, it promises to become one of the best outdoor spaces on Vancouver's west side.

The development also includes a new community centre with a 50-metre swimming pool, ice rink, gymnasium, and fitness facilities, as well as a new Vancouver Public Library branch, licensed childcare spaces, a seniors' centre, a youth hub, and artist studios. These are not just amenities for the people who live in the towers above. They are public facilities that will serve the entire Oakridge, Cambie, and Marpole area.

Getting Around: Transit and Walkability

One of the biggest advantages of the Oakridge neighbourhood is its transit access. The Oakridge-41st Avenue Canada Line station provides direct SkyTrain service to downtown Vancouver, the airport, and Richmond. The station is integrated into the Oakridge Park development, making it one of the most transit-connected neighbourhoods in the city.

The area is also well served by bus routes along 41st Avenue and Cambie Street, and the neighbourhood's flat terrain and quiet residential streets make it comfortable for walking and cycling. Grocery stores, restaurants, schools, and parks are all within easy reach, which is one of the reasons families have been drawn to Oakridge for generations.

The Neighbourhoods Around Oakridge

Oakridge does not exist in isolation. It sits at the centre of a cluster of distinct Vancouver neighbourhoods, each with its own character and appeal. Cambie Village, stretching north along the Cambie corridor, offers a mix of heritage homes and new developments with easy access to Queen Elizabeth Park. Marpole, to the south, is a diverse and evolving neighbourhood with excellent Asian restaurants and proximity to the Fraser River. Kerrisdale, to the west, is known for its charming shopping village, mature tree-lined streets, and strong sense of community.

To the east, Riley Park and Sunset offer more affordable housing options and a growing food scene along Main Street and Fraser Street. South Granville, to the northwest, is home to galleries, boutiques, and some of Vancouver's best dining. And Langara, just south of Oakridge, is a quiet residential area anchored by Langara College and Langara Golf Course. All of these neighbourhoods are within a short drive or transit ride of Oakridge Park Dental.

Finding a Dentist When You Move

Moving to a new neighbourhood means finding new service providers, and a dentist is one of the most important. If you have been putting off finding a new dental home since your move, you are not alone. Many people delay dental care during transitions, which can lead to small problems becoming bigger ones. The best time to establish yourself with a new dentist is before you have an urgent need.

Here are a few things to look for when choosing a dentist in a new neighbourhood:

  • Proximity and convenience. A dental office close to your home or transit route makes it easier to keep appointments. Our office at 650 West 41st Avenue is steps from the Oakridge-41st Avenue Canada Line station.
  • Comprehensive services. Look for a practice that offers a full range of care so you do not need to be referred out for common procedures. We provide everything from routine cleanings and exams and fillings to dental implants, Invisalign, and dental anxiety support.
  • A welcoming atmosphere. Your first visit should feel comfortable, not clinical. At Oakridge Park Dental, we take the time to listen to your concerns, explain your options, and build a relationship that goes beyond a single appointment.
  • Flexible scheduling. Weekend appointments make it easier to fit dental care into a busy life. We offer Saturday appointments twice a month in addition to our regular weekday hours.

What to Expect at Your First Visit

If you are new to Oakridge Park Dental, your first appointment will include a comprehensive examination, digital X-rays, and a conversation about your dental history, goals, and any concerns you may have. We believe in transparent communication and will walk you through our findings and recommendations before any treatment begins. There is no pressure and no surprises.

For patients who experience dental anxiety, we want you to know that you are not alone and that we have built our practice around making visits as comfortable as possible. From a calming office environment to oral sedation options, we meet you where you are.

If you are a new patient, you can learn more about what to expect and how to prepare on our New Patients page.
